| History of Hotel Thomas |
|
In the year of 1994 a Hungarian businessman, László Thurzo and his son, Thomas Thurzo decided to open a hotel in Budapest, more exactly in Ferencváros. The location they choose surprised quite a lot of people as the 9th district belonged to the undeveloped areas of the city and there were no plans for its reconstruction in sight. The building operations lasted end Summer of 1995 in Lilom street, surrounded by Tűzoltó and Tompa streets. The first guests were welcome in August 1995 and to our greatest pleasure they still choose our hotel for their stay in Hungary. Hotel Thomas is a 3-star hotel with 43 rooms and it has been working with the same staff since it opened. Our guests arrive mainly through travel agencies that are present on the West and North European market and we also welcome businessmen and students from all over the World. Since 1997 the hotel is managed by Dr. Laszló Thurzó beloved son, Thomas Thurzo. Over the years he utilized his father’s and the hotel’s employees’ experiences in his work. With expanding services and growing number of tourists both guests and the owner is satisfied with the hotel’s achievements. By the time of the reconstructions of the area in 2001 a new town house was built next to the hotel. Our first class restaurant the Gulyas Restaurant a conference room seating 30-40 guests and 3 suites were opened in the new building. Thank to the increasing conference tourism and the new wing the range of our guests extended and the hotel’s performance is improving. The most characteristic result of our work is that we have increasing number of guests and partners which ensures us to promote the Hungarian hospitality. |
